PDF Version of this announcement here.

We’re getting closer to our return to training!  Over the past couple of weeks since my last communication we have been working with staff and senior cadets to start planning out our training year.  We have a better idea who is returning but some of you still need to fill in the form at THIS link to confirm that you are or are not returning and request any uniform changes you need. Please complete this as soon as possible.

We have received authorization to return to virtual training and will start Wednesday September 23.  Prior to this date you will receive info about a google account for access to virtual training meetings, training materials and communications.  This account will allow each cadet to log into our Google environment for secure access.

Our virtual training nights will run at 1900h on Wednesdays and contain 1-2 periods of virtual instruction.

In-person training is scheduled to start at this point on Wednesday October 7, but we are awaiting final approval and confirmation that we have access to the armoury.  Before we meet in person we’ll have a virtual session to review how processes will work to keep our cadets and staff safe, and understand how training works in a COVID-19 environment.

Our in-person training will run from 1845h-2115h and will consist 3 periods of instruction.  There will be no canteen at this point due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Cadets – Your next steps are NLT (no later than) 1800h Tuesday September 15th :

We are preparing for our return to training…

To Cadets, Parents and Guardians,

The safety and security of all who participate in the Cadet Program is always one of our top priorities. It is assumed that the COVID-19 pandemic could last 18 months or longer. This virus will likely return in multiple waves and continue to pose a threat to the Canadian Public. A return to normalcy is not forecasted any time soon, and we need to prepare for a new normal.

Therefore, that is why, the Commander of the National Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group has made the decision to delay the start-up of limited in-person cadet activities until at least 1 October 2020. This was not an easy decision, nor was it made in isolation. It ensures that we have proper measures in place for the safety and security of everyone who participates in our programs and will ensure that the Cadet and JCR programs do not become a vector to spread the COVID-19 virus.

In the month of September, you can expect that we will reach out to you with further information about the fall. We are expecting some virtual activities to resume mid-September until such time that limited in-person training can be authorized.

To prepare for this return to training Cadets are asked to complete the following tasks in coordination with Parents and Guardians.

  1. Please complete the “return to cadets” form located here as soon as possible. This form will provide us with information about who is returning and what their uniform requirements are.
  2. For those who need to exchange uniforms there will be a multi-step process.
    1. Fill in the form above.
    2. Remove all rank and personal badges from your tunic – please leave the shoulder flash and RCAC badges on. Wash your uniform and place the pieces being returned in a clear plastic bag.
    3. Insert a piece of paper with First and Last Name, and your items being returned.
    4. At the specified time, date and place (to be announced) – return this bag to us.
    5. About one week later (to be announced) – come and collect your new uniform pieces. Any further exchanges will take place after the return to in-person training.

Although the fall of 2020 will not roll out the same way it has in years before, we remain committed to ensuring that the Cadet Program continues to provide unique experiences for youth within our community. Should you have any questions or concerns, you are encouraged to reach out to m or the training team.
